NewJeans Surpasses 1st-Week Sales Of Debut Album In Only 1 Day With “OMG” + Tops iTunes Charts Around The World

NewJeans has broken a personal record with their latest release!

According to Hanteo Chart, NewJeans’ new single album “OMG” sold more than 480,000 copies on its first day of sales alone, instantly exceeding the first-week sales of their debut mini album “New Jeans”—which marked the highest first-week sales of any girl group debut album in Hanteo history.

Not only did “OMG” make a strong start in terms of physical album sales, but its songs also dominated various digital music charts.

Upon its release on January 2, in addition to “OMG” topping Hanteo’s daily album chart, the title track of the same name soared to No. 2 on the realtime charts of Korean music streaming sites such as Melon, Bugs, and Genie, while their pre-release song “Ditto” ranked first. At 9 p.m. KST, the song rose to first place on Bugs, and later, at 11 p.m. KST, it also reached No. 1 on Genie.

“OMG” is also receiving as much love abroad as it is in Korea. By morning KST on January 3, the song had already reached the No. 1 spot on iTunes Top Songs charts in nine regions including Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

As “OMG” previously recorded the group’s highest number of stock pre-orders to date (800,000), industry watchers are paying close attention to how many first-week sales the album will record and if the girls will be able to reach another milestone soon.
