Listen: SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan Shares Emotional Cover Of Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon’s “Time Lapse” For His Birthday

SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan has gifted his fans with a beautiful new cover!

On January 16, Seungkwan rang in his 24th birthday—and to celebrate the occasion, the singer prepared a very special surprise for his fans.

At 1:16 a.m. KST, Seungkwan posted a soulful cover of Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon’s solo B-side “Time Lapse,” explaining that he had chosen not to film an accompanying video because he wanted CARATs [SEVENTEEN’s fans] to be able to focus entirely on the song.

Seungkwan wrote, “This is a song that I first discovered when I was 20 years old and have listened to countless times since, but every time I hear it, it’s a song that makes me feel so many different emotions. Some days, it makes me feel overwhelmed and choked up, as if I’d burst into tears at the slightest touch, while on other days, it brings me peace and strength so that I can start anew. Maybe that’s why this song was even harder for me to sing.”

“These days, my desire to do better [at singing] is growing,” he continued. “Regardless of whether I sing well or not, I too want to become a voice that can make CARATs feel many different emotions. It’s okay if this song brings you comfort, and it’s also okay if the song isn’t comforting and just feels sad to you.”
