NewJeans Becomes 1st Girl Group Debuting After 2016 To Top Oricon’s Weekly Single Rankings Chart With “OMG”

NewJeans has topped Oricon’s weekly single rankings chart for the first time with “OMG“!

On January 13, Oricon released their latest weekly single rankings chart for the week of January 2 to 8, which shows “OMG” in the No. 1 spot with 56,560 points.

This Oricon chart determines its ranking by combining CD sales, digital downloads, and streaming counts. While different Korean artists have topped this chart over the years with both Korean and Japanese singles, NewJeans is the first girl group who debuted after 2016 to achieve this feat!

Earlier this week, Oricon announced that NewJeans’ “OMG” had debuted on the daily singles chart at No. 1 and sold 20,638 copies on the first day of release in Japan. On the weekly streaming chart, NewJeans’ pre-release track “Ditto” debuted at No. 6. On Oricon’s latest weekly digital single ranking chart, “OMG” came in at No. 37.

Additionally, NewJeans’ debut release “New Jeans” hit a new peak with a No. 15 ranking on Oricon’s weekly digital album chart. The group has three tracks actively ranked on Oricon’s weekly streaming chart, with “Ditto” at No. 9, “OMG” at No. 15, and “Hype Boy” at No. 41.
