Nearly four years after its release, ATEEZ’s “Say My Name” is climbing back up music charts all over the globe!
“Say My Name,” which was first released in January 2019, recently re-entered the spotlight due to the ongoing controversy over Vata’s choreography for Zico’s “New thing.” Many accused the “Street Man Fighter” dancer of having copied ATEEZ’s signature move from “Say My Name,” including Anze Skrube, one of the original choreographers of “Say My Name.” While Vata eventually responded with a statement firmly denying the allegations of plagiarism, the controversy has not yet died down.
When the allegations began to pick up steam online last week, “Say My Name” quickly started climbing back up iTunes charts around the world. The song rose to No. 1 on iTunes Top Songs charts in at least 23 different regions including Argentina, Brazil, Sweden, Thailand, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Chile, El Salvador, Singapore, Estonia, Latvia, Ecuador, the Philippines, Egypt, and more. “Say My Name” also reached No. 1 on iTunes Top K-Pop Songs charts in numerous other countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Japan.
To add to those achievements, Billboard revealed on October 18 local time that “Say My Name” has now re-entered its World Digital Song Sales chart at No. 11.
ATEEZ also re-entered a number of other Billboard charts this week. Nearly three months after its release, their latest mini album “THE WORLD EP.1 : MOVEMENT” has re-entered the World Albums chart at No. 8, the Top Current Album Sales chart at No. 19, and the Top Album Sales chart at No. 22.
