For the third time this year alone, NCT DREAM’s latest album has become an official “million-seller”!
On December 19, NCT DREAM released the physical version of their winter special mini album “Candy” (after digitally releasing the album’s songs last Friday).
According to Hanteo Chart, by 1:05 p.m. KST on December 21, “Candy” had already surpassed 1 million album sales—meaning that it took the album barely two and a half days to reach the milestone. (Just a few hours later, the album had already gone on to sell over 1.2 million copies.)
“Candy” is now NCT DREAM’s fastest album ever to hit the 1 million sales mark, breaking the group’s own record for the fastest SM Entertainment album to sell a million copies.
Additionally, NCT DREAM has now become the only artist to surpass 1 million sales with three different albums in 2022 according to Hanteo Chart data: before “Candy,” the group sold over a million copies of both “Glitch Mode” and its repackaged version “Beatbox” earlier this year.
The feat is all the more impressive considering that “Candy” is a winter album and “Beatbox” is a repackaged album—both of which typically sell less than ordinary album releases.
“Candy” is also NCT DREAM’s fifth album overall to sell over a million copies according to Hanteo Chart data, making NCT DREAM only the third artist in Hanteo history to have five million-seller albums (following BTS and SEVENTEEN).
In addition to its impressive album sales, “Candy” has also been doing well on the digital music charts. This past weekend, the title track “Candy” reached No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100, making it only the third boy group song to top the chart in 2022 (following BTS’s “Still Life” and BTS’s “Yet to Come“). The song also hit No. 1 on Genie, Bugs, and Vibe, and it continues to rank within the top five on all Korea’s major realtime music charts.
