Get ready to go from “ho ho ho” to “ha ha ha.”
Single All the Way, Netflix’s first LGBTQ holiday rom-com, hits the streaming service this Thursday (December 2). The movie looks campier than A Rosie Christmas — and that’s mostly thanks to two of its stars, Kathy Najimy and Jennifer Coolidge.
An exclusive new video takes you behind the scenes of the filming of Single All the Way and features the cast getting into the holiday spirit, along with clips of Coolidge cracking up her castmates. As if Coolidge weren’t enough to egg your nog, the clip also has on-set interviews with the film’s stars, Michael Urie and Philemon Chambers — who was a guest on Logo Live this week! — along with some glimpses of Christmas cuties Max Emerson and Kyle Krieger, who make cameos in the festive film.
In case you had too much egg nog and need a reminder, Single All the Way follows Peter (Urie), who is “desperate to avoid his family’s judgment about his perpetual single status. He convinces his best friend Nick to join him for the holidays and pretend that they’re now in a relationship. But when Peter’s mother sets him up on a blind date with her handsome trainer James (Luke MacFarlane), the plan goes awry.”
The first preview, which dropped last month, included plenty of holly-jolly jokes and our first look at MacFarlane as Peter’s dreamy date. However, it was Coolidge asking about Grindr dates and wondering why the gays are “always obsessed” with her that made us think Single All the Way will become an annual holiday rewatch.
“Celebrating Christmas in springtime with this amazing group of artists must mean I was good this year,” Urie said in a statement when the movie was announced. “Chad Hodge has written a laugh-out-loud-funny and lump-in-throat-sweet movie that [director] Michael Mayer will effortlessly lift off the page. My mom is Kathy Najimy, my dad is Barry Bostwick, and my aunt is Jennifer Coolidge — if that isn’t some kinda gay Christmas miracle, I don’t know what is.”
