Both BTS and TXT made the list of the top 10 best-selling albums of 2022 in the United States!
On January 11 local time, the American music data tracking firm Luminate (formerly MRC Data), which supplies the data for the Billboard charts, released its year-end report for 2022.
BTS’s anthology album “Proof” made the list of top-selling albums in the United States in 2022 (physical and digital sales combined) at No. 3, while TXT’s mini album “minisode 2: Thursday’s Child” followed at No. 10.
Notably, BTS and TXT were outliers on the list of top-selling albums in the United States (physical and digital sales combined) in more than one respect. Not only were they the only two Korean artists to make the top 10, but their albums were also the only two albums on the list not available on vinyl.
Considering that the sales figures of all the other albums in the top 10 included not only digital download albums and CDs but also vinyl LP sales, the inclusion of BTS’s and TXT’s albums is all the more impressive—especially since vinyl albums outsold CD albums in the United States last year.
The top 10 best-selling albums of 2022 in the United States (physical and digital sales combined) are as follows:
- Taylor Swift – “Midnights” (1.818 million)
- Harry Styles – “Harry’s House” (757,000)
- BTS – “Proof” (422,000)
- Olivia Rodrigo – “Sour” (354,000)
- Beyoncé – “Renaissance” (335,000)
- Fleetwood Mac – “Rumours” (310,000)
- Adele – “30” (296,000)
- Kendrick Lamar – “good kid, m.A.A.d city” (278,000)
- Michael Jackson – “Thriller” (236,000)
- TXT – “minisode 2: Thursday’s Child” (229,000)
