BLACKPINK's 'Kill This Love' Surpasses 1.9 Billion Views Milestone on YouTube

BLACKPINK continues to redefine the boundaries of K-pop’s global reach with their chart-topping hit ‘Kill This Love,’ which has now eclipsed an astounding 1.9 billion views on YouTube. This significant milestone, attained approximately 4 years and 8 months after the video’s release on April 5, 2019, is a testament to the enduring popularity and worldwide fan love for the group.

The achievement of ‘Kill This Love’ on YouTube marks BLACKPINK as the first K-pop artist to have two music videos surpassing the 1.9 billion views mark, with their previous hit ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ also achieving this feat and heading towards 2.2 billion views.

‘Kill This Love’ is renowned for its powerful brass leads and grand drum sounds, coupled with BLACKPINK’s dynamic performance and sophisticated visual aesthetics that perfectly accentuate the song’s mood. The music video captivated global audiences with its charismatic choreography and striking visuals.

The addictive choreography, especially the iconic rifle-shooting movements, earned widespread acclaim, leading to ‘Kill This Love’ being the only K-pop entry in the ‘Top 10 Most-Watched Music Videos of 2019’ worldwide. The song’s impact extended to various global charts, including a peak at number 41 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 24 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, at the time setting a record for the highest-ranking K-pop girl group.

Recently, BLACKPINK concluded their ‘BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK],’ the largest world tour ever by a K-pop girl group, drawing an audience of around 1.8 million. Their performances as the first Asian artist headliners at the American Coachella Festival and at the UK’s Hyde Park connected them with approximately 2.115 million fans in total, further solidifying their status as a world-class act and a dominant force in the global music scene.
